Hi Guys

Over the last 2 days my reverse gear has been harder and harder to get into it feels squishy and stiff when trying to shift into it.

And tonight 6th gear starting feeling the same, does anyone know why reverse and 6th gear might start feeling squishy and tough to shift into?

Is this something fixable or is it time to take it into Subaru?

Cheers

Joel

Well I don't believe reverse has a synchros so on mine it's often hard to get into and you just need to blip the throttle in neutral or go into 1st or 5th first.

As for 6th being hard to get into it could be a problem with old crusty gearbox oil and the synchros not grabbing. Tried rev matching?

Its only just started happening so something has changed with the gears :)

Its under waranty so I guess I'll book it in, I think with my limited knowledge it might the the shifter fork getting out of alignment

i WOULD GUESS since both 6th and reverse are to the right and back, its possible that something is restricting the lever or the selector shaft movementin that area. Pull up the gear lever boot, and check for anything that shouldnt be there. At around 40k I started hearing new noises on gear change, and found the rubber boot under the leather boot was torn - had it fixed at 50k service. Maybe you have a furry visitor moved into to a warm spot?
