What's the best place in sydney to service and mod 2010 GT?

I am currently servicing my other cars with MRTperformance. They are quite good i do notice difference before and after service. But seems abit expansive.

Also I read some of the post here it seems that ECUtek gets locked if I use it.

So where do you guys normally service your cars and where is it, price?

What do I need to change and how much would it be if I want to have 300kw on my 2010 GT sedan auto. Do I need to change the break as well for handling? Because corner is very important for me I don't want to mod a car that is only fast on straight.

Is it possible to reach 0-100 in 4sec or less with the 2010 GT?

Don't waste your time with MRT…….

Depending on the mods your after, speak to Phat GT, he will give you a very good idea of what you need to reach the 300kw, he also can point you in the right direction to find a good tuner……. If your located in Sydney it will be an even bigger bonus…..

For general servicing I go to Subaru at Lindfield, used them a few times and service is great, they even found a few diff leak which was missed by the halfwits at another dealership I used. Price depends on what service your getting, I usually supply my own oil and filter…..

Btw if your planning to achieve 300 kw, handling and braking is essential…IMO

Don't think we've had a base run for the Gen V GT yet, so not sure where your starting point would be in terms of numbers. But 300kw atw is do-able, but will require extensive mods and a lot of dosh.

First place to start would be a turbo-back exhaust system. You're in Sydney so you might be in luck. Phat GT on this forum is offering a free dump pipe to any Gen V owner willing to part with their Lib for a few days so he can perform the fitting and testing to make a jig for it. A very generous offer if you ask me, considering he charges near $1k for a dump pipe, and other brands will charge $1,500+.

While there, you should get the centre pipe and mufflers made. Using the same mufflers as the Performance Mufflers for the Gen IV would be ideal.

Once that's done, to achieve anywhere above 200+ kw, you'll need things like: fuel pump, fuel regulator, injectors, turbo, inlet pipe, intake, tune, possibly a front mount, etc etc. You could let MRT handle it all for you and pay about twice as much. Or if you're serious perhaps you could convince Phat or perhaps he could recommend someone.

Are you after 300kw atw or 300kw at the engine? Why is 300kw important to achieve for you? Are you planning to race or drag your car?

300kw at the engine would be more than possible with fairly basic mods however very little is known about the VF54 turbo at this stage ie. flow rating.....if it's anything like the VF52 then it may be possible with the stock turbo

The yanks are reporting numbers around 220-230whp for a stock MY10 GT.....some measured as low as 214whp and other as high as 242whp......basically a stock MY10 GT is making about the same numbers as a custom tuned MY09 GT.

My car is not here yet but I test drive the GT auto for 1 night. It's a very good car but somewhat I don't feel exciting driving it. the acceleration is not as exciting as a STI or a slightly moded wrx. maybe because it's too heavy. So i kinda feel something is missing in that car. But will have to drive it abit longer to know what i want. sales told me he will be able to give me the car end of this month or early next month. because I wanted a 2010 MY10 and not a 2009 MY10. So let's cross finger the car will be here in 2 weeks.

Can you tell me where is PHat located and their website? I been doing service with mrt before never heard of Phat. Also for a brand new GT i need to do the service at first 2000km or 5000km? Do you guys think if I service in Phat I will be able to go into the workshop and just look at it while they service my car? I'd like to find a place that let me watch while they service the GT so I can learn more about my car.

I don't think I would take the offer to lend my GT for few days because it's brand new. I don't want to push it hard yet until 5000km that's better for the engine i think.

right now the first thing I need to buy is this. http://www.subaru.jp/accessory/legacy/c ... index.html the rear bodykit without the spoiler? you guys know anywhere I can get it?

I already ordered the front from subaru dealer it's going to be fited as soon as the car arrive but they don't have the rear kits and mufflers.

I'd be looking for a bit of fun from it as well. But I guess that's why they still sell the WRX. :P I think the Liberty was aimed at the executive who wants power but in a comfortable, quiet, luxury package. Exciting but not too exciting! :P But most of the reviews I've read commented along the same lines you did. Goes fast but it's not as exciting.

Sorry, Phat GT is actually just the alias/username for Michael, a 1 person all things JDM guru. He works out of his home most of the time in Sydney, but has ties to workshops all over. You can reach him at forumparts@gmail.com.

I been doing service with mrt before never heard of Phat.

Of course you wouldn't. Phat hates MRT and vice versa. He's proved them wrong and made them look the fool on more than one occassion, so they don't harbour any love for him. :comando:

Also for a brand new GT i need to do the service at first 2000km or 5000km?

You should check with your dealer for that. :pardon: They just wanna check nothing's fallen off from when you drive it off the premises to your home.

Do you guys think if I service in Phat I will be able to go into the workshop and just look at it while they service my car? I'd like to find a place that let me watch while they service the GT so I can learn more about my car.

Most places bar people from entering the work area because they don't like people watching over their shoulders, and if anything happens to you they are liable. Unfortunately Phat does not do servicing.

I don't think I would take the offer to lend my GT for few days because it's brand new. I don't want to push it hard yet until 5000km that's better for the engine i think.

Fair enough. You don't know anything about Phat yet and it'll be hard to subject your new baby to testing. However this is a great opportunity to get a dump pipe as it's one of the most significant mods you can do for your turbo. Plus you can still take it easy for the first 5000km (although it'll be hard as heck).

thanks for the detailed reply.

The reason why I went to mrt for service is because they say the warranty is still there even if you mod your car and they give life time warranty on parts. sound very attractive.

I don't like to use the dealer service anymore because many people say bad things about time and dealer service is not as professional is it true?

Despite wht people think, It is very expensive to get 300 kW btw that requires extensive engine work and tuning plus lots of component changes. Set your goal to 250 kw and in additon to the aforementioned tuning costs you'll only need new........

pistons & rings
rod bolts better still rods as well
Headstud upgrade
ACL bearings
new head gaskets
gasket set
turbo
intake
injectors
fuel pump
regulators
exhaust
MAF tube
intercooler

LOL 300kw will require you to throw out the brand new subaru engine and start over essentially, can be done if you have a big fat wallet imo.

Is this car a daily driver for you are do plan on doing track events in it?

This is going to be a daily drive car. But I do want to take it to the track sometimes. I've never been to track race yet.

But if the mods is going to cost so much then I better just wait few more years to get a GTR 35. It would maybe be a better choice in the long run.

maybe forget the 300kw. Just wanted the acceleration to be alittle more exciting.

Because when you sell the cars the mods doesn't worth much. So I don't want to spend too much on the mods.

flash tune of the ecu would be a good start for you then and coupled with an aftermarket dump pipe (phats) you would see some nice gains in performance for your daily driver.

180 atw (real atw not disney dyno  ) or rather 50~60 kW above standard is very achieveable and still reliable with stock internals. Once you start changing turbos and so forth you lose bottom end. A decent exhaust like phats of one of the others let you get some bottom end back. If you have a 6spd it can mask it to some extent too
As above just get a decent exhaust from one of about three places a fuel pump and a flash tune and see how you go. I think you'll be very surprised. You'll use less fuel too

LOL! I love your terminology, Mark! :D Some of the Disney dyno figures we've seen on here are a bit on the Mickey Mouse side.
