Really Short Shifter Kit For AT?

Does anyone know if there's a short shifter kit for the Gen IV 5EAT Tiptronic?

I was negotiating slow traffic on the M5 Motorway this morning, and had the car in tiptronic shifting mode. After a while, I started getting tired of moving that shift knob 10mm up and down. Surely someone would have thought this was a lot of tedious work, and came out with a short shifter kit that would shorten the throw down to 5mm or less?

Jim, look at LegacyGT for the valve body mod for the auto trans... I'm thinking that would benefit you greatly :D

But making the actual physical throw shorter - I don't know, that sounds like a lot of work. Use the paddles?

One reason buttons > paddles

I dont' think I've ever read of anyone wanting to change the throw of an auto shifter, so you may need to go custom. Check out the shifter design in the workshop manual you may be able to easily work out which linkage point you have to change, then send your shifter to a fitter and turner to get it cut and shut.

Use the paddles Jim Boy, or just put it in Auto... No point mucking around reducing the throw in an auto :P

How funny would that be you are driving along and someone rings you. You turn on the hands free and the word 'first' is mentioned and then you see bits of gearbox and engine in your rear vision

LOL! It's not. Just thought I would stir the pot with something ridiculous. :D Those who know me don't take me seriously. :P

Come now. Who's going to pay a few hundred bucks to reduce a 10mm Tiptronic throw to 5mm? Ok, maybe I would but that's besides the point....

Ah, Jimbo... This post deserves no comments. LOL. But I will anyway...

Next you'll be asking for an on-off button on the stereo that is 10mm longer so that you don't have to reach as far...

That's where Coyote's link to the voice command system comes into play. Until that technology is more available, I throw a rock at the knob.
