There will always be people out there with a failed turbo looking to replace like for like. Not too many in here admittedly but if you are willing to put it in general classifieds I reckon there's a chance someone out there will be happier buying a less expensive second hander than a fairly expensive replacement from Subaru

mate do really think someone who has blown at 46 is going to want to replace it with another one unlikely I suggest.

yeah, there will definitely be those out there who will replace like for like. Not everyone is in car clubs where there is often peer pressure (unfortunately) to mod your car.

As I alluded to in my post, I don't think he'd find a market in this club for the above reason. Out in the general public however I reckon there would be.

Hell, even Arith replaced his blown VF46 with another stocker. Not everyone wants the hassles involved with different turbos

If your stock turbo fails under warranty then getting a used replacement is probably not likely to be a choice. If its outside of warranty period then maybe so. I have not heard of anyones VF46 failing to date.

Dave, as Tony suggested, there are plenty of people out there who's VF46 have failed and instead of going aftermarket or a VF52, they simply replaced it with another VF46.

And keep in mind not all VF46 failures are from failures on a stock Liberty. Some just have died prematurely due to modding which are hard to claim under warranty.

Really can you give me an example Jim as I have not heard of these 46 failures in Oz. Plenty in the USA but thats a different market. Not saying you wont sell it for a price.

I am changing my snail out shortly and will def be keeping ithe 46 stored away in case its needed.

Agree - to the average Joe, a direct replacement would suit most peoples needs. Hit Ebay and see what bites you get.

Otherwise I'm sure CPitts will have a crack - he always seems to be looking to buy std stuff so he can tear it apart!

EDIT - I wrote too soon - just seen CPitts post in the other Turbo thread. LOL.

VF46's are a good early mod for those who are unfortunate enough to have bought an MY08 WRX with their weeny TD04 LOL. I reckon $500 but its best to hang on to it for a coffee table conversation piece
