Clutch kit recommendations

Postby TFish » Fri May 21, 2021 8:04 am

Hi all,

I'm looking for recommendations for a clutch kit.

The main ones I can find are Exedy, Xtreme, Mantic and Clutch Industries. I want to upgrade from OEM.

Exedy eg from exedydirect com aka northern brake & clutch is a great option.

Not mantic tho, the quality went drastic.

Jim berry if you can get one :good:

Consider a lightweight flywheel etc...

Regarding lightweight flywheels (or cam sprockets or whatever), there is a school of thought that Subi engines need to retain the factory rotating mass (rather than go for lightened components) because the crankshaft of a boxer engine doesn't have the usual counterweights, so the individual power-stroke impulses need to be smoothed-out by the rest of the rotating mass.

I can't comment on how true it is, but the theory is out there - the version I saw was a "get a Dom tune" / Dominic Acai youtube video

He states an lwfw is ok but definitely not in conjunction with a lightweight crank damper.
I went with a Fluidampr, no complaints at all ;)
