up pipe

Postby overl0ad » Tue Nov 25, 2008 8:35 pm

ok, so i've heard horror stories about how there's a cat in the older WRX would get brittle, then come loose, and straight into the turbo......

bye bye turbo.

so i'm wondering if the LGT has a cat in the up pipe? cos i'd be extremely intrested in replacing the up pipe to completely eliminate this issue...

any one knows for sure?

As far as I remember during the Phat dumpipe installation, the Lib has a catless uppipe, and the 2 cats both reside on the downpipe, after the turbo. Don't quote me on that I could be wrong so we'll need someone more knowledgeable to verify. :P

The up pipe is catless but a pre 2001 WRX had a catted up pipe, I owned a similar car in California/Nevada in 2003. Ran the car hard over summer, burned up the cat which when into my turbo....bye bye turbo blades. Subaru has learned and stopped this practice. Save your mod money and by headers :D
