He said the previous mob didn't do anything in terms of fully cleaning out oil de-guncking it etc.

End of service he mentioned that turbo is leaking and said that's common, I did say to him that could it be some of that cleaner left behind just burning it's way off after 2 cans were put through it?

Oild had been changed but never cleaned out saying it was black as and burning oil, going through turbo and blown out the exhaust.

It's taken a few weeks but the engine is out and undergoing a full rebuild and thanks for advice here. Going for stage 2 build and power so have listed major upgrades below.

Upgraded to 2018 wrx turbo, STI water pump, STI oil pump, CP pistons 99.5mm bore - 9:1 compression, head stud kit and washers, new plugs, coils, raceworks catch can fitted (see photo), all new raceworks hoses, new subaru timing kit, gaskets, pressure switch, new radiator, dump pipe installed but keeping rear exhaust section stock for now, +++++

Here's the engine before pic and will upload new engine in a week once installed.

Plan is for low level level tune for first 1500kms running in and then dyno and full custom tune. Will upload graphs once done

My new guys did everything right including running 2 cans of engine cleaner through it, replacing all fluids and bring it back to what i should be.

He did mention that the turbo is leaking and could be the main reason I was burning through so much oil. Had the service 2 days ago and the following morning start up revealed a ploom of white smoke, not overly thick, could see through it then no run through once car was turned over and in park.

I figured condensation at first but after reading this thread I thought I'd get some feedback based on what I've mentioned.

My mechanic said new turbo required. but after reading about ringland I'm starting to think otherwise, now times are tough out there and people need money....am i thinking about this the right way?

thoughts'?

B Grade - I wouldn't be too concerned about the white smoke if it's not losing oil. I've owned my car since almost new (ex-demo) and the car has on and off blown white smoke usually after a service. The difference with my recent problem was the loss of oil which was most notable when the breather hose was leaking and oil poured out. Then the idle got rougher and I ended up running 20% compression on cylinder 2 as per my ringland photos.
