3 different independent mechanics can’t fix my car

Hey all bit of a long one, 3 months for me

I have a 2010 2.5 gt gen 5 man sedan with around 65,000 kms
I brought it in for a timing service in far North Queensland received it back off the mechanic non drivable. The mechanic that did the damage says he never test drove the car when it was dropped off. I call bullshit
Basically I received the car back undriveable. It was coughing backfiring ect. I gave it back to him he said it was an electrical problem, not his problem, it drove awesome before hand with a tune from Matt. I drove it from Melbourne to cairns no issue. The mechanic parmed the car off to his specialist mechanic who claimed it was the throttle body. I have since replaced and no luck. New mechanic again I’ve had all the cams off timing inspected, replaced exhaust cams as the dowels in exhaust were broke, the water pump had one bolt snapped and retailed with a bigger bolt, there was one bolt not connected into the water pump housing instead the bolt was lying loose in the timing belt cover. The belt was damaged from running on the belt guide shaving itself which would eventually snap , on 2 full rotations it is a tooth out but mechanics think this is in its tolerances. It will do about 10klms each gear then cough and back fire and loose all power unless I put in neutra and select another gear. The only way you can sort of drive it is with the maff sensor unplugged. Still very rough. They all think it’s an electronic issue. How would an electrical issue arise if it was a timing belt service unless he spiked the computer damaging it. The mechanics want the stock tune to be out on to investigate further. I can afford to keep it in the mechanics for any longer.

You need to pursue the culprit via your lawyer or small claims tribunal.
If the mechanic is legit they should have some sort of insurance to cover themselves in situations like this.

Or find a decent mechanic and start over.

Know this thread is old, but just my 2c.

I think you may have found the fault already. If a the car runs better with the MAF disconnected it's likely an air leak or a faulty MAF.

Did this ever get fixed?

I think you should try another mechanics and car repair service center. I know you have already tried 3 different mechanics, but as they were unable to fix your car. You can contact with another mechanic or service center.

Hi all, thx for your input, probably a little late to post a reply but anyway, the head mechanics, worker tried to do a timing service and the main issue amongst others was the crank shaft sprocket tooth was damaged causing it too read incorrectly. He Clearly shouldn’t be allowed to touch car parts. Probably got his trade papers from coco pops special

Unless said Head Mechanic was planing to repalce the main front oil seal (behind the the crank shaft sprocket) there should be no reason to remove the crank shaft sprocket?
Also, there are holes in the face of the sprocket for which to insert screws to remove the sproket safely?

Ahh the old crowbar technique, not very safe but you'll get the pulley/sprocket off eventually. Those weird holes? Who knows, probably weight reduction.
