The xmember swap shouldn’t be too hard, assuming you can lift the car and the engine at the same time :P
You’ll need a turbo front swaybar too...
I’d consider a faster steering rack whilst you’re in there eg prefl GT or adm gen3+ wrx or sti @ 15:1... my15+ being 13:1...

So I have been doing some heavy contemplation and consideration of all the information that has been
Put forward and I thank everyone for their information. I'm still really considering turboing however wouldn't be doing it legit as I would need to get it emissions tested and engineered which means an simple(ish) mod becomes quite expensive and if I'm getting emissions and engineering I may as well do a H6 turbo and make it worth while.

If I was to buy another car, A decent one with leather sat Nav etc and a turbo I'm Looking 10-15k.

I understand wiring looms appear to be the biggest pain in the ass when it comes to engine swaps,
So putting out the open ended question of, I have a nice(ish) car that owes me nothing and probably worth just as much to sell, so I want to learn and I want a turbo, what suggestions do people have regarding the best way to do this? STI front cut? H6 out of an outback(cheap to buy), straight swap a Liberty GT motor in? Etc, nothing would be out of consideration.

What modifications options donna have? Keeping in mind I'm not looking to mod exisiting with anything less than a turbo.

Thanks for the advice and the time fellas!

Someone here apparently did a preface na to turbo swap, posted on this forum.
I don’t know the details other than they had a wrecked GT to transfer all the parts from.
Your biggest hurdle would be the body loom.
Specifically as regards engine to ecu, but probably other stuff too, eg the na return less fuel system.
Have a look at the FSM pinouts and online partslistings to get a clear idea.

It was a brief mention in someone’s post.
They didn’t go into much detail.
Fun fact I found in research: Prefl and my07 postfl GT body harnesses are identical.
The looms for the prefl exhaust avcs become looms for postfl tgv’s.
My08 changes to mirror the GR wrx harness inc different engine harness plug.

Perhaps all model grade body harnesses my04-07 are similar?
Or since your car is my08, check which type harness you have.
Never say never, right?

I had chat with a Subaru specific mechanic who specialises in this type of work and his simple answer was no......due to the canbus issues the entirety of the loom needs to be switched over.......so from that chat i took the main point being that i need to be a written off GT.

Anyone selling?

To be quite honest reading your posts i got a little lost so going to do some research and then come back......

What does everyone think about an ej207 swapped 2009 liberty wagon na. I’m thinking of doing the swap and wondering how I could do it? And don’t say just get a Liberty gt.

If you need to ask, no.
If you’re an automotive polymath with all the answers you’d be done n dusted already.

You’re either looking at a full loom and ecu swap or reverse engineering the existing loom to suit.
Or running a fully aftermarket ecu with custom loom.
Start with making some basic comparisons of these standard parts (body loom) and get back to us.

Nothing’s impossible but some things make more sense financially.
