Hey guys
2006 GT spec B 148000km
Just had the head gasket, water pump and radiator replaced. As well as timing belt and valve for the cam timing, once this was all done the coils and plugs also. I’m getting like a rough stutter/misfire from 1000rmp to 1500rpm then the car runs great

No codes are showing does anyone know what may be the cause? A dirty MAF sensor or just needs a reset computer

You should log the car via obdii/SSM, that’s tactrix, vagcom or btssm bt plug or any scan tool that uses Subaru Select Monitor (SSM). Elm327/Torque app is incompatible - with SSM.

Log the inlet avcs angles if Postfl and inlet and exhaust vvt angles if Prefl.

You’re looking for vvt angle inactivity or oscillation around 1500rpm or during freeway cruise.

New avcs solenoids are best value via Partsouq or other international websites... Dealer price in Aus is generally excessive.

Replacing the inlet avcs oil control valves is around 1.5hrs labour and is very diy-able...

If prefl, pull the ecu plugs to check that oil from the exhaust avcs ocv manifold isn’t traveling up the loom, contaminating the ecu...

Otherwise, start with an inlet pressure/smoke/bubble test post maf.

The front O2 sensor is another possibility pending logging results...

Cleaning the maf is always a good idea, use crc maf specific aerosol and make sure the maf is properly reseated: eg don’t pinch the o ring. A little lube, a gentle twist, or freezing the maf & o ring usually does the trick.

Let me know if you need assistance eg in Melbourne or with related questions.

Were the heads checked by a machine shop ?
Or did the mechanic just clean the surface up and not bother with a machine shop?

Yeah I beleive they were sent away checked and machined before being put back together
The car is dead stock, has its service history and I just can’t get it right, I’ve had it 3 months and had nothing but issues with it and I’m almost at my whits end with it

I’d recommend diy logging and LV for starters.
Puts the ball in your court.

Otherwise:

Jslayz is a notable WA member who has invested heaps in his car over the years, I’m sure he knows where and where not to go. Send a pm or post in his member profile.

He’s also tuned by ThottleHappy tuning, iirc.
Matt has heaps of options to optimise the drivability.
Are you pre or postFL??? Auto or manual?

Anyway you really want to log the avcs vvt angles asap.
Cheapest way is to find a local member with the tools and knowledge, or a mechanic/auto shop with an SSM scanner, or grab an android phone with otg, an otg adapter to suit, a blue vagcom plug from an au vendor on ebay, and the Btssm android app.

In addition to logging and LV you can display virtual gauges on the android device, great if you want eg boost, corrected speed, digital coolant temp etc...
