Rumble noise from engine on cold start

Hey guys, my apologies if this was answered before. Moderator can move it in the right thread.

I have an 07 Liberty GT SpecB. On cold start, there's a rumble noise that sounds exactly as if I have a custom exhaust of some sort (which I don't), only it comes from the engine. Is this something normal or I should get it checked?

The sound goes away quickly (in less than a minute). This is my first turbo and first Subaru, so forgive me if it's nonsense.

Thanks for any input, appreciate it.

Thanks for your quick reply mate.

Does this mean the pump is on its way out? Need to get it fixed or replaced asap?

EDIT: ignore the questions guys, just found a thread explaining about it. My appologies...

haha no worries

from what i know its turns on for about 30secs-60 secs to help the catalytic converter do its job

my car also rumbles alot louder for that duration, nothing to worry about

If it annoys you, the system can be blocked off. I did it and now love the lack of Diesel sound on cold starts. So much nicer!
I can post a link to the US Forum guide if you're interested.

Parts are cheap but it's not an easy job, because a section of the Exhaust has to come off, and the turbo, but it's worth it in my opinion.
The pump is only used to trick the emissions test. And after 30-60sec it does nothing anyway, so I don't feel bad that it does much environmental harm.
