Low IAM / low boost / Fine Learning Knock Correction

Postby Cam_Haug » Mon Jun 12, 2017 9:37 pm

Hey Guys,

Driving today and noticed boost seemed a bit low(10psi instead of 16), got home and checked with rom raider to find this
https://goo.gl/photos/AeWcQpvBtyS4EMjW8

A little bit of reading has me freaked out.... I have gone from 'hmmm better change the sparkplugs' all the way to 'whelp time to drop in a 257'.

Anyone got any advise on this??

Cheers,

Cam

Some type if boost/vac leak?

Also worth cleaning the maf sensor.

Try making up a boost leak tester (there should be some threads/guides around).

Not a boost leak... has happened once before and resetting ECU 'fixed' it wont be resetting until i figure what is causing it......

Would be worthwhile logging to see what you can find.

Bad fuel ?

What would be the best to log to get an idea?
I don't think it would be fuel? This was the end of a tank of bp 98 (last 1/4)

If I log do I need to reset the ECU to get the boost back up? i would imagine its running pretty safe right now? would there still be useful info?

What to log is detailed here:
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=20196

Under the logging Parameters section.

I would not reset the ECU at this stage to avoid any damage.

If you can post your log up and maybe someone here can get a sense of what might be wrong.

Do what Surge suggested :)
I'm interested to see your log and find out what the problem is!

Your tuner needs to work out how to turn off fuel trims on boost. That Negative value in D Range of fuel trims(40+) is applied on boost and makes it run around 0.7 AFR learner than when it was tuned

Tune is a pulse racing tune, will hopefully be getting it redone soon, hopefully ringlands are still intact :\
I reduced the boost down to about 13.5 max and the IAM came up to .8ish

Have been doing a bit of research on this, looks like there is no MAF scaling on my car.... which is weird because it had a tune done by Pulse at the same time it had the CAI installed.... how is my car not dead...?

No have not talked to Matt

https://goo.gl/photos/4unhhy2T3e9fQK5o7

That is the rom pulled from my car vs the stock rom on the romraider forums, maf scale is the same, car has been running like this since first owner in canberra (guy was on here, have original receipts).

weird huh?
Even weirder, my understanding is the LT af learning tables should be reading positive with a CAI (system is lean).... but its all negative.

I have roughly rescaled the MAF and added fuel to the load areas now and the knock seems to have stopped...but will have to wait and see what happens with LT AF

Pulse does not tune the MAF scaling at all.

Well that is retarded? Or do they just tune the fuel map with compensation built in? Seems half arsed to me.

I have managed to get it to the point where i am seeing no knock at WOT all the way through by scaling the maf slightly and adding fuel, hopefully this will see me through til i can get it on a dyno, learning tables look a bit better as well.
Will be keeping a close eye on it.

Any updates?? Is the engine busted? Have you thought about going to another tuner other than pulse?
