also the filter you will be looking for with ryco is z411, same thread, seal size, diameter, but just 20mm longer. these come on the fb25 foresters factory.

Interesting Benny, thanks for the info.

I've got an STI oil filter on the car at present, though they're normally $50 a pop. The one in the garage waiting for my next oil change (hopefully this weekend if I'm over this damned gastro bug) is a Cooper, though I'm not 100% sure if I'll actually use it (it's a bit of an unknown). Might pop down to my local Subaru/Mazda stealership parts place and see what they have...

The point is to have an oem spec filter with the exact bypass spec guaranteed.
And in the case of the MY09-10 RX8 filter or the larger OE filters, a little more filter area.
Plus the Tokyo Roki filters are held in high esteem by the picky...

Not dissing anything Ryco etc, it's just a one percenter/tinfoil hat thing. ;)

If you're completely insane you can commit $500+ to one of these setups, and yep it's been done

Having said that if my head wasn't full of rocks, I'd be using one of the many Rycos my local garage has on the shelf, they know what works and what doesn't. :)
