Equal length headers

Postby gradg » Thu Oct 15, 2015 6:34 pm

Hey guys,

I'm having some issues with my headers, specifically the flange to the up pipe on the equal length headers on my car. It's shit quality and the flange is bent and keeps blowing gaskets and i'm sick of it. the flange style is shit.

I don't know what brand they are bu the car has been tuned with them on so i'd rather get another set of equal length to keep that relevant.

I'd like to get some semi-decent ones. I really don't want to be going through this again so i'd rather pay the money now and be done with it.

Aaaaaand go! :D

Even KillerB headers have issues, and then you're in for a real treat - sending them back to the states haha :D

OP have you tried straightening out the flange?

I have thought about it yeah, but its a couple hundred bucks in labour that MAY or MAY NOT work. I'm not interested in those types of fixes, if it doesn't work I've gotta go spend the money on some decent gear anyway. I'd rather just replace the cheap crap with something decent and not have to think about it.

tbh if it was me in the first place I wouldn't have changed the stock ones out.

If you go KillerB you must go V3 headers with the cast collector.
CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw
OLD - Dom 1.5Xtr - Last dyno 254ahkw, previous 238ahkw, first 224awkw.

We have equal length headers in stock, manufactured in same factory as Tomei, GT spec, PSR

Do you have a pic of the ones on the car?

I had mine resurfaced. And they seal with two grimmspeed 7 layer gaskets and high temp rtv sealant.

Only thing that won't seal 100% on mine now are the head to headers flanges and these are a pain to find someone who will machine them.

Do not wrap them either and keep AFR at 11.1.

Dr20t had a fabricator replace the 3 bolt up pipe flanges with vee bands, & did similar to his twist mount adapter.
With the right fabricator it's a relatively affordable mod, eg way less than KB total expenditure...

Check where your car has the factory AFR sensor installed before using o2 sensor bung in the headers for your factory sensor.
If after turbo you will have to remain like that and just screw in a bung n may be tack weld it in place to be sure.

When you putting those V1's on?

Keep AFR 11.1 or richer for longer life of the headers.

Edited to correct first paragraph.
