Soapy water sprayed liberally over the intake path, go for a quick drive, then look for bubbles. Alternatively, many mechanics can do a smoke test

If your individual turbo is stuffed, pick up a good second hand VF46 for $500 or so then, or if you can wear a few hundred rpm more lag, a VF52 for not much more.

Hello Robert. The kinugawa turbo you mention is a good turbo. Don't get too excited about the VF range, the vf52 is okay, but the td05018g will perform better in opinion. But remember, with the 52 and the 18g you will be heading into injector upgrade territory. And exhaust. And fuel pump. And..............it goes on like this until you end up at Dr20t/JackGTB/My builds.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

The 52 is fine with stock injectors and fuel pump isn't it? :o

Maybe I am missing something today, but 525cc injectors will be good for 300 fly wheel hp at 43.5 base pressure. So, yeah, should be okay. Oh at 90% duty I should add. (which seems way to low)

I think Matt can scale them to act like 560cc (don't quote me...). Can also run at ~100% dc... (at least I am on E85).

356hp at 100% DC with 560cc injectors. That sounds about right.

This is a very useful post agregating stock location options for both 2.0l & 2.5t.
But best to, as suggested, get a proper diagnosis and fix before proceeding with any upgrades.

No need to upgrade injectors on a VF52 unless you go to E85 - I have VF52, 3" exhaust (including downpipe and STI mufflers), silicon intake hoses, PW TMIC and still have stock injectors (I did upgrade fuel pump, but that wasn't strictly necessary either), and have an estimated 200kW ATW on RON98 pump fuel.

But yes, of course you CAN go all out with a larger turbo. It depends what your targets are. :)

As long as all out is around the 75% efficiency island on the compressor map :P
