Ouch. I take it he understeered through the turn or something?

Get him enrolled in a proper car club. He will learn a LOT about his car and be a better driver for it.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

He swerved to miss a hare of all things! Expensive road kill dinner! He went sideways and then lost it into the corner. He is a P plate driver (3 months on the road) and I had always stressed not to swerve for "any" animal but hey! why would he listen to an old man??

There is a reason that I bought a car with 5 star ANCAP rating :) Pity it was a nice car. Well looked after 2005 safety model with only 110K on the clock. We actually were paid out more than we bought it for as it was insured for market value.

Firstly, welcome to the GT-B wagon club. For a stock car a tune is still totally worth it. Makes it so much nicer to drive in general (I would recommend to anyone the difference is that great). While not 2.5GT, I convinced dad to get mum's 07 H6 tuned by Matt. Dad can't believe the difference and even mum noticed and is much happier with it (also solved fuel delivery issue)!

I have swerved for two things, a koala and an old lady. The koala was lucky I was in the 98 Rx Lib otherwise no way I could have saved it's ass, the old lady was lucky I had an embanked centre median I could use to drive up at 60kph in my 84 Corona!

Shameless plug...Brisbane folk please note cruise on 30 August - see Gatherings thread for more details.

Well, Another update - I had a local Subaru mechanic specialist (recommended by Matt at KiDo tuning) have a look at the GT last night. He mentioned that I had a VF52 turbo instead of VF40 which is a bonus. :D

I am going to get him to give the car a full oil/fluids/filters service either this weekend or next and get him to give it a good once over. He mentioned the car had coded 30,000 km ago which coincides with the engine replacement story which is good. I feel relieved that i have a really good car even with no books and only a couple of receipts :) Very pleased indeedy.

It currently has Nankang S1 tyres on the car at the moment but I am not as impressed as I have been with the Bridgestones and Yokohamas that I have had previously but they are OK. Not very confidence inspiring but just OK

VF52 is a bonus. Nice work.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between the VF46 and the VF52 and why is it better?

VF52 is the 08-14 WRX turbo, which has better top end than the VF46 (Lib GT 07-09 turbo).

It comes on boost a little later than the VF46, but has slightly stronger mid-range and where the VF46 starts to run out of puff around 5,000rpm the VF52 will keep going all the way to redline.

It's a common upgrade turbo for us Lib owners as it bolts straight on and only requires a re-tune

Thanks ferret. I get it now. I did notice it pushes through to 6500rpm :D Very nicely. Can't wait for the tune. Why does the triangular light on the instruments flash on at 3500 rpm?

Triangular light? What color is it and where is it located on the panel?
Cheers

Having a Vf52 fitted means it has more than likely had a tune. The light means change gears for economy, if its the light I`m thinking of.

What Dave said. Is only activated in 'I' (Intelligent) mode and is telling you when to up shift for maximum fuel economy. Nifty feature if you care about that but I prefer not to labour the engine and sometimes it wants you to shift a bit prematurely for my liking :). Judging by Shav's post I suspect this wasn't included on auto models?

I had no idea what triangular light he was talking about either, so must not be on auto models
