how tuned are we talking....?

IfI was running stock with a tune, I'd just run the platinums .
CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw
OLD - Dom 1.5Xtr - Last dyno 254ahkw, previous 238ahkw, first 224awkw.

Platinums have long life, medium spark
Iridiums have medium life, strong spark
Copper has short life, strongest spark

Given how much of a pain it is to swap plugs, using longer life plugs makes sense where it doesn't compromise engine durability or safety.

Stock: Iridium lfr6aix gapped to 0.8mm
Mild setup 98 fuel : lfr6aix gapped to 0.8mm
E85: ILFR6B - iridium gapped to 0.8mm
Wild setup. 98 fuel - lfr7aix laser iridium one step colder gapped to 0.80mm for <25psi and 0.75 for over 25psi
E85: Lfr6a part number 6668 - copper and replace every 10,000kms and gapped same as above
but if over 30psi 0.7mm gap may be needed. Extremely important to use 6668 part number

With VF52 and 98RON fuel, stock platinum plugs are fine. You'll have other issues (head gaskets) as you push for power levels over 200kW ATW before the plugs are a worry for you.

I have an estimated 200kW ATW with 5EAT (which sucks power) with stock platinum plugs (VF52, silicon intake hoses, 3port boost solenoid, 3" dump, 3" exhaust, etc).

Stock tuned GTB Spark Plug code

Postby bigBADbenny » Wed Nov 04, 2015 6:24 am

I bought the stock gtb plug set for $145 from Makin & Luby.
And that's trade pricing! I'd expect a dealer to charge more.
It's just money, right?
It's available on eBay for $110 delivered iirc.
Then I googled the Subaru catalogue code on the M&L sticker and wow, MRT sell the set on eBay for $67.
I'll dig up the magic code for the silfr6a 4 plug set for y'all...

SILFR6A x4

SU22401AA670

Google a price for that for the best deal ;)

Well... I'm assuming (MOAFU's) that's for 4 plugs so you'd have to check with them... $57 each would be criminal :P
I did the plugs in the Baur recently so I'm just about ready to gap (0.8mm thanks Mick) and install the 22401AA670.. aka NGK7913... SILFR6A's using this DIY: http://www.legacygt.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1842

For some reason I recall they come gapped to .8 BBB.

I set my gap at .6, based on advice from a few known reprobates. It will cost a bit of power, but meh.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.
