Do it now before you settle down. Believe me, unless you have a well paying job and no kids, it's gets harder to have a project. lol

Oh believe me I will :D

Gtx2867 with twin scroll housing and twin scroll equal length headers

On a 2.5 with proper avcs tuning and supportin mods will make 250awkw on 98 and be full spooled by 3000rpm

with no regards to cost, this is an awesome setup, although I think it might be out of the budget here :)

interesting choice on turbos, curious as to what housing and why not a gt30, which seem vastly more recommended

Gt30XX turbo is at least a 500hp turbo. To make 250kwatw (300odd at the flywheel or 400hp), you will never use full potential of gt30 sized turbo, particularly the higher pressure ratios you need to run to see benefit of larger compressor.

So on stock block (limited to max 22psi at a stretch), to make 400flywheel hp, adding a larger compressor wheel and turbine will only add lag and move the curve to the right, without making up for it with higher boost pressures.

Please don't confuse this for me suggesting a proper exhaust turbo housing though. Notwithstanding my recommendation for the smallest compressor and turbine wheel to make desired power level, I am very much an advocate of non Subaru style turbo exhaust housings (excluding twin scroll). The backpressure build up on the "8cm^2 and 10cm^2" housings, and of course the p15/18 housings on vf turbos, are very restrictive in many ways.

Great thread! I'm almost about to buy a VF52 for my GT which is getting headgaskets, studs and dump pipe, heavy duty clutch, intake, TMIC and tune over the next 2 weeks. However ive just been reading about the Blouch 440 and it's got me thinking for the similar cost of the VF52, maybe I'd be better going the 440 for the possibility of pushing the power search a little further later on. Keeping the stock 08 bottom end for now but down the track a bottom end build may have to happen.
Looking for 220awkw at this stage. On the stock internals with the supporting mods above. Will the VF52 be on the limit at this target power figure? I know I will more than likely have to address fuel also.

Yep... tough to get to 220wkw with a VF52.
I have the VF52 and I'd go the blouche if I were you. Great turbo!

How much bottom lag to do you gain between the VF52 and the Blouch? Is the Blouch all top end?
Cheers

It's not much difference Shav. I presumed the blouche would be really laggy too... but it's not much different to the 52.

Thanks mate, well in an auto I would assume it wouldnt be as fun. In a manual this could definitely suit.

Nice. What kind of expectations would you get from this unit?
