VF46 or something dodgy

Postby Mosti » Fri Dec 12, 2014 1:12 pm

I decided to do something productive with the car today and went about removing the TMIC so I can clean out all of the dead foliage that the previous owner had somehow accumulated under it. While I was doing this I thought I'd have a bit of a look around to make sure there were no split hoses etc. I noticed on my turbo, where a assumed the engravings would be, that there is nothing engraved. Is this normal for the VF46 or am I running an unknown turbo?

I also noticed this, definitely doesn't look normal

Kinda hard to see it past the stock turbo heatshield. :)

I do note that there are some engravings visible just under the edge of the heatshield.

I thought the engravings would be somewhere on the intake housing on that section near the middle of the photo?

The engravings should be on the front of the turbo on that section your looking at. you might have to try take a pic with your phone or use a small mirror

There is nothing engraved in that area, it looks and feels to be all smooth. It does have IHITurbo the same as your pic.

Looks like a VF46 to me. Just compared it to a VF52 I have sitting on the bench and definately not one of those.
