Thanks HardwareBoB.

It is great, or not great really, to hear that others have the same issue and it is not just my car.
Such a bitch though that it cost me thousands to fix. So much labour involved in finding it.

Great picture, really helped me to identify where it was.

Thanks again.

Glad to help.

Yeah that's pretty harsh - I just opened my bonnet and was like "oh .. there's the oil, looks like the turbo oil feed is stuffed, better get a new one!"

Hopefully it's all smooth driving for you now!

How shitty is that. The 2.5ltr line looks different and feeds from the top of the head from memory. Do either of you know where the actual crack formed? From a steel oil line I can't understand how this could fail unless it has been disturbed except maybe at the top part where it is bent out of the way to allow the turbo to be removed.

Yes the 2.5t oil feed is on top under the inlet pipe.
Infamous performance and tuning make a braided hose and filter kit inc filter and either BB or JB type orifice turbo feed bolt iirc.

I run the Infamous performance inline filter, good kit but you may need to shorten or lengthen to best suit your install.
CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw

So, can this oil line be replaced with a braided item (either in part or in whole)?

Take a look at the components in the IP&T kit, maybe you could piece one together using Pirtek and some adapters and filters.

Here is the install thread on LGT:

Here's the Forced Performance oil supply items :)

As BBB said, but you can replace the turbo section off the shelf:

The feed line I got (message the seller and get him to include the M12x1.0 adapter for another $4)

Kinugawa version:

Spoke to Serge today and brought this up to see if he was aware of it happening before and he said there was a service bulletin about a bad batch of oil feed lines some years ago. Basically the factory steel pipe would crack at a weld from vibration and the fix was to install the same line with an added bracket for extra support. The aftermarket ones certainly would make replacing the turbo easier.

Sorry, my post was based on the first page - it seems I missed the second page (with the links to replacement options) entirely!

Perhaps referring to this:

Yes I can remember having this recall my '07 GT B.

I just checked, mine was done in Dec '08. Anybody buying a second hand GT of this vintage should check for this sticker before purchase.

Thank you everyone for all your advice.

Now the last piece of the puzzle......I want to get my car re-tuned now that is not sending smoke signals and hear that Matt Mcleod is the man.
Can anyone please tell me what is the best way to get in touch with him?

Thank you
Michael
