Strange Behaviour...

Postby Roddez » Thu Jun 05, 2008 10:35 pm

I hopped into the car last night to head down to the OzLiberty meet at Hooters and noticed that the fuel consumption was way over the odds.

Starting off it was recording 50.0 L/100, not something that it normally does. It would record this figure even with gentle acceleration. The normal cruising figures also appear higher than normal.

It's half way through a tank of Vortex 98 from the same place I usually fill up from. I also think that the acceleration is off a little as well, but this is something that is harder to judge. I have however been aware of a worse than normal surging through second gear.

It isn't using oil, but then I have only driven about 70 k's with it in this state. Any suggestions?

Time for an update, and another excuse to show off my new Avatar...

I decided to take the car into my usual service centre this morning, Thompson Subaru down in Punchbowl. I turn the corner into Stuart street and the gate is closed. It's 10:30 in the morning! Upon closer inspection I discover that not only is the gate closed, but so are all the doors and the signs are also gone!

I don't have their number on me so I call my trusty Vodafone 123 person to put me through. "Welcome to Vodafone, how may I help you?"

"Can you please put me through to Thompson Subaru."

"Thompson Subaru, in Bankstown? Putting you through."

Okay, so I am thinking now that they might have moved their service centre. Then the call goes through.

"Welcome to Suttons Holden, how may I help you?"

To cut a long story short, Thompson Subaru are no longer. Suttons Subaru in Chullora are a new Subaru dealer.

So, off I trek from Punchbowl to Chullora. There is no quick way either!

I left the car there at 10:30 this morning and I am still waiting to hear. Last I saw the car was up on the hoist and plugged into the computer. I will wait to hear.

Oh Dear.
Would have been better to wait till those Sutton mechanics worked out the difference between a Commodore and a Liberty.

Only hope it comes down before all the seals and gaskets go from being idle for so long.

Sutton's also bought out Rushcutters Bay Subaru, for anyone that has dealt with Sutton's in the past would understand.
