PCV name number location

Its not a service item but can be a source of mystery oil consumption, rough idle etc.
So at 200K its on my list of replacement items: its possibly knackered by now...
When new the PCV should rattle when shaken.
On some Subarus, the PCV is integrated into the 3way that sits atop the CCV.
Integrated and very hard to separate from the 3way apparently.
On those cars, theres an adapter screwed into the inlet mani, which goes to a smaller diameter hose to the PCV in the 3 way.
But on the ADM 2.5T the PCV is screwed into the inlet mani. :good:

The basic item is P/N 11810AA060

Its tucked away towards the rear of and screwed into the inlet mani and is fed by the CCV via the 3 way junction hose.
All good except its not on the Opposed Forces page!
Its is on the Russian version though.

Listed as 11810

So then I googled that and found its rather generic!

ProductName:PCV Valve
DEUTSCH PCV1142DL

Cross Interchange Parts
Factory Number
CHAMP PCV1142DL
CHAMP 11810
CHAMP 59230
PUREPRO V1019
MOBIL PC2
CHAMPION PC2
WARNER PC2
AutoZone PC-2

Thanks to Alex who just went through this process and supplied me the P/N and some pics I'll post soon...
If you have any thing at all to contribute to the info - please do!

Good work benny. I was getting rough idle and signs of a vac leak causing misfires and all sorts of dramas. Pcv was all clogged up so cleaned up but still not 100% replaced the pcv and its all good now

Good info, i came across this a few weeks ago actually. Had a few issues sourcing the part with rubber hosing, Subaru couldn't tell me the part number. I think you actually found the part number for me on Facebook?

It's certainly a relatively easy and cheap fix that is overlooked.

Indeed at the time I didn't realize that the 3 way on top of the CCV doesn't have the PCV in it, rather its at the end of one of its branches.

I was doing a few things close by so I thought I'd take a few pictures:
The 3 way junction - http://share.pho.to/6Lp4f/sg/original
The hose that pulls right off the PCV valve - http://share.pho.to/6LouQ/94/original
And the PCV valve itself, mine was clogged under first inspection I didn't have a deep socket wrench available so I couldn't get it off for more pictures.

Hope this helps others

Something I found useful and a very informative read that's somewhat related:

Lol that's required reading! All of it.
Yet 2 posts on Rexnet mentioning a 2l catch can put that entire IWSTI thread into practical perspective for me:

Couple of solutions here:
Healthy Motor.
Gapless rings.
Return to Head catch cans, Catch can needs to be aleast 2000cc and the main breather needs to be 1"+ in diameter.
The cause of the problem is in hi G turns there is enough blow by to draw the oil out of the cylinder heads because it can't return.
Subaru motors breathe 90% through the heads and 10% through the crank breather under full throttle conditions.

He's on to a few things there...

Thing i have learnt from my catch can setup

1) I had to run a 2 litre catch can for CAMS to run in street cars in WA. Made it to fit on the opposite side of the main corners at Barbagallo (All right handers apart from 1)
2) Used original breather points on the engine and top mount inter cooler. Engine breather straight to catch can and combined head breathers into one pipe with a non return pressure valve (similar to brake booster pipe) to catch can.
3) If that hadn't have worked then a larger diameter breather pipes would have been used. Its all about pressures built up in the breathers. The larger diameter pipes allow more air in the pipe so less pressure behind it so it doesnt bring oil up with it.

After 10 minutes qualifying, and 36 laps at full race pace I get about 100mL of oil and thats me overfilling the sump for track work.

Will add some pics in a sec of the setup. Also setup is JDM 2l twin scroll with 21psi running 310Hp and 600nm of torque...
