If you want less lag with the VF52 on an auto get a bigger stall converter which maintains lock-up. In the old lib I had a 3000rpm stally = launch on full boost.

Interesting, that sounds high for the stock turbo which is smallish. Mine was actually a modified 3000rpm built for a 2.5ltr but on my 2.2 it stalled to around 3500. I guess the point I am making is that if you upgrade the turbo size in an auto, usually a higher converter stall speed will allow you to make better use of the power of the line and reduce perceived lag ;). It is hard to beat a turbo subby off the lights with the correct converter fitted (high but not to high). The manuals won't have a chance for the first 200ft.

Right before you can hit peak boost with a VF52 on an EJ25.
With proper tuning of the DBW tables; violent launches are possible ;)

Correct me if im wrong, but cant the tune have something to do with it too?
I know my friend with an evo is always talking about some of the evo tuners bringing on the boost more aggressively than others.

People with actual tuning knowledge please take over from here :D

That's absolutely correct. The Pierburg 3-port boost control solenoid also helps apparently.
