Hey all,

Would any guys with the STi Wagon be able to tell me the tare weight listed on your rego papers? I got my blue slip done and the workshop put down 1545kg while redbook, subaru, and carsales etc list it as 1495kg???!!! It makes my rego an extra $145 a year and I want to get it sorted if it's suppose to be 1495!!!

That's unfair. Where did they pull 1545 from?
My ACT rego papers say 1495kg

Auto is 50kgs heavier.

Yeah man, I have no idea! Apparently they just put my VIN number in and it automatically came up as 1545KG. I know it's only $145 a year, but why pay more than you have to right?

The workshop said that 1545KG is what the car was originally registered with hence why it was in the system. I showed them manufacturer's specs which clearly stated 1495kg AND their own spec sheet said 1495KG, but they still refused to change it. They said the car may have had extra accessories adding weight etc...WTF!!!???

Anyways, a call to the RTA Technical guys today made it clear they should have used the manufacturer's Spec sheet and should have changed it accordingly, otherwise they are in breach or the rules and regulations. I called up the workshop this morning and they still stuck to their original story so I asked them to call the RTA... workshop called back 10mins later asking when I wanted to pick up amended blue slip

According to manufacturer's specs, the 6 speed and 5EAT Lib wags have the exact same tare weight thoough

Heh - I had a similar problem with my motorbike which was originally registered as 9999cc instead of 999cc. Never noticed for years until greenslip prices changed based on capacity and then the price jumped massively - was like WTF!?

Here is the official brochure for the TBSTI which states it as 1545kg. Good win anyway..

Strange though that the GTB and STi specs are identical in Redbook and carsales. I wonder where they get their info from and also what makes the TBSTi 50kg heavier? Could also be Brochure error where they specified kerb weight instead of tare weight?
