Rebuilding ej255/major service. Looking for advice!

Hi guys,

The back-story is that I may have a blown HG inside my ej255 180,000km block.

We'll be doing a timing belt change in the process, aiming to use OEM or better parts. Happy to take advice on how to improve the timing belts, oil, water pumps etc

The main question that I would really appreciate help with is - where to source these parts at lowest cost/best value?

So far I have:

OEM Timing belt kit + OEM Water pump (anyone know of a better waterpump?) $520AUD
OEM Sti 11mm oil pump - $157AUD
OEM Thermostat - $23AUD

Thanks :)

PS. Just to clarify - I'm not after help with the internals of the block or HGs. I know a guy who used to be a mechanic or something, and he said he can throw some parts together for me ;)

Replace the headstuds with better ones while you're there (ARP get mentioned regularly), and consider alternative head gasket too (the Cosworth one seems popular).

Thanks Rob, the internals and the block are taken care of. Just need to find some service/supporting parts :D

I bought a HEAP of stuff from

www.celticmotorsport.com

You give them your chassis number and they give you the correct OEM part cheap.

Thanks guys! That's exactly what I'm after, Celtic are looking like the only ones with an OEM timing belt kit.

Question for the experts -

I'm after an OEM cast impeller water pump. Does anyone know if (part no. 21111AA026) the earlier wrx water pump with the cast impeller will fit our libs?

EDIT: Looks like I answered my own question. Casing is identical, with only the wheel being different. $100 from Celtic, instead of $115 for the newer-but-worse-for-cooling-stamped-wheel design. Progress :D

Do the research before going a bigger oil pump is my advice. ;)

Rising Sun sell major service kits, I believe their pricing is competitive.

I'm under orders for that one.

Yes....cheaper than from the states.... Haven't got all his prices yet, since Kris is busy working on a car, but the timing belt kit is $445 + freight.

Thanks!
