Best aftermarket air filter that seals & more noise

Postby Newbie GT » Sat Apr 05, 2014 10:03 am

Guys what filter aftermarket actually fits inside stock air box that actually works & seals properly / provides more power and more noise without going pod style?

Appreciate your comments if they are genuine

HKS Super Hybrid Filter Liberty seem to be very popular, Michael @ G88 will be able to help you. They're roughly $85

+1 hks.

Might let in some extra silica particles than stock but that's the trade off if you want extra noise without going obnoxious pod filter levels of noise.

I thought the HKS wasn't that great...I've had to clean the AFM a couple of times.

EDIT: I was using the HKS panel filter at the time.

ive got an HKS panel, i used silicone to help seal the air box as i was also finding a little bit of extra dirt on the MAF sensor

i hear that the apexi panels are pretty good for sealing but dont have any 1st hand experience, as long as your not driving behind cars on dirt roads you should be alright

The best fitting and sealing aftermarket filter I found was the Apexi panel filter.

Don't think it made any more noticeable a noise however.

-1 for HKS. I've got foam around it to seal it now which is working okay but before that my entire intake was lined with dust/fine sand.

Stock = silent.

HKS = some noise.

Pod filter = Annoying as fuck, I couldn't live with it.

It's like $70, buy one and if you don't like the noise get rid of it. There is no reason to change it other than noise in your circumstance. You won't notice any power gains.

Not liking the fact that they don't seal well

you're not going to learn anything until you just do it yourself. it takes 10 minutes to pull the res out, drive to autobarn or whatever and buy aftermarket panel filter.... they do the same thing.
test it, if you don't like it re-install the stock stuff. done.

A reminder to all that newbie did install his own silicon inlet, which is quite an involved install.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.
