Just had a 3" cat back system fitted with hitech twin tips mufflers. I seem to be experiencing a slight hesitation/splutter at very low revs as Im pulling away (only now and again) - Is this because of the system? Should I be resetting the ECU since the new cat back system was installed?

A cat back system shouldnt upset too many things but you could try resetting your ecu, to see if it elps

perhaps you have a blocked injector or some dirty fuel..

Is this occuring around 2-3000 revs? Than this is normal.

Stutter problem with our 2.5lt.

James, I just bought a MY08 GT and the previous owner spoke of the occasional hesitation or splutter. I heard it was quite common. I got my car tuned by MRT before I took delivery of it and it's plain to see from the dyno print out that there is a big dip in the torque curve around 2800-3500. After the tune there is now a big "mountain" on the torque curve at those revs. Not sure if I can attach the dyno chart, but try this link;

James sorry to dig up an old thread but my hesitation or loss of power was actually the ECU and the AFR it was using was 14.9 which was way too lean, dangerously so....

Can't comment on everyone elses but may be worth checking if you can it should be between 11.5 and 12 I believe

What does the Ecutek tune consist of, and what;s its impact on warranty?

Does that chart really say the KW at 3200rpm went up by 40, and the tq by 140NM? I find the thin lines hard to discern the colour on.

We found the 2.5T in the forester XT less than perfect on the throttle also , then had it tuned with mods and it helped it breathe so much better and almost eliminated the jerkiness/hesitation. I think Fly by Wire throttle control may be some part of the cause .. ??

But I concur it must be fairly common as I can pick the same probs in the MY08 GT-B Sti we now have. (heres hoping Rachael wants to get a TBE and td05-20g turbo and tune down the track !)

Ecutek is a Reflash of your OEM ECU , just drive in -hand em the keys - drive away with an enlightend power curve. As far as warranty goes ...... tsk tsk
Can be custom tuned to suit your specific mods or can be done as a package .

I've got this jerki-ness and just about had enough of it. One assumes that the open source tune, say AVO, would fix this issue?

I would not assume that because there are good and bad tuners out there. A good tuner will however def fix that though. I would speak to the tuner at AVO and ask some pretty direct questions about this as see what he says. If he has tuned some of the can ecu's from Subaru then chances are he will know exactly what you are talking about.

GTBSTI - thanks mate - I'll definitely ask about it when the time comes. Just gotta finalise some mods then sort out tune.

Yes MSR knows how to tune this out from what I've seen.
