ECU, what level of mods before it needs upgrading?

As the title says, what level of mods can the factory ECU cope with on the EJ 25T? Is there a point where the standard ECU can still cope but an aftermarket unit would produce better results? By better I mean more reliable and give the tuner a better platform to tune from. Cheers

You would be hard pressed to need aftermarket... this is on stock ECU

Stock ECU handles a LOT and you can convert to speed density if the MAF voltage ever becomes a concern

There is only 3 ECU's capable of running a lot model car and they are no cheap

Thanks Matt. It does make me wonder why anyone would want to part with their cash to buy something that effectively adds nothing the factory ECU cannot already handle though.

More tuners. There are a handful of guys who can do good work with stock ecus. Some people don't have access to them.
