6MT Problem

Hi guys,

Has anyone heard of the reverse actuator on the gear stick of a 6 speed manual in a GT Spec. B getting stuck in the lifted position? We got our tyres rotated yesterday and since then its been stuck and I can't select 5th gear.

I know there's probably nothing they did while rotating tyres that might damage the gear stick or box but i was thinking that when they took it for a test run the guy might have forced it into reverse or something not knowing that he had to lift the ring on the stick.

My wife took the car straight to our local Subaru dealer and they couldn't find anything immediately or obviously wrong so they want the car tomorrow to "get it on the hoist and have a proper look".

Any ideas on possible problems? Apart from the above the car drives fine and every other gear works well.

Thanks

Adam

Its possible, you'd want to inspect under the boot, under the rubber boot below that, and put the car on stands and inspect the linkage and cable from below.

For example the grease on the reverse ring could have gone sticky, something may be pinching the cable, or part of the heat shield or something could be interfering with the cable and or lever on the gearbox...
