Hi all
I don't know much about exhausts, so please excuse my ignorance.
I have an 07 tbSTI with a Fujitsubo dual exhaust with 3"(?) pipes going into 2 x stainless oval canons. It may be this model: http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/prods/detail ... 1/00000817
The exhaust looks awesome, but the sound is too quiet for the look of it.
I'm not sure if it's full exhaust or cat back - I presume the latter. I believe it was about $1900 installed (done by previous owner)
Is there an inexpensive way to make it louder? I'm happy with the fuel economy and performance, and I like that it doesn't have the dreaded freeway drone you get from cheap exhausts, but I'd really like more noise (within a legal / acceptable range - eg. another 5-10dB ) at 3500+ or 4000+ RPM. The only time it makes a little bit of noise is during a cold start and at 5000+RPM under load (ie. driving). I definitely want to retain minimal noise at low revs and when cruising, but would like more of a growl when accellerating hard / from 4000 revs
Spending $2k+ on headers (or even $1k) is not an option I'd consider at the moment as we've recently bought a house. Nor do I want to replace the existing mufflers.
I presume these are the only two options but I thought worth getting some opinions...? eg. wasn't sure if something can be added in between the cat and exhaust purely for sound which doesn't affect performance.
Any advice most appreciated.
David
