Upper Engine Cleaner (UEC) - where to spray?

Postby cynner » Sun Aug 18, 2013 12:31 pm

Dumb n00bie question here... on my old 2.0L engine there were vacuum line pipes right on top of the intake manifold, it was really easy to give it a gut-full of UEC, and also pop off the intake pipe going to the throttle body and give it a good spray in there too.

Looking on the new 2.5L engine - I can't find an obvious spot to spray the UEC?

Discovered an old post...

Does anyone have any other suggestions to maximise the effectiveness?

That spot is as effective as any other for routine use of the product. Best done prior to oil change.

If you wanted to get in to clean the throttle body at the same time could you remove the BOV and spray some UEC in the direction of the throttle body? I think the BOV vacuum line comes in post butterfly. Any suggestions? I guess another option would be to remove the TMIC and spray directly into intake hose. Thoughts?

Also has anyone used the brake booster line? I read somewhere that this will only get to two of the cylinders but I am not sure if this is true in a Gen 4 2.5ltr as if it comes in at the throttle body it would be evenly spread.

Do you spray it into the hose, or the part the hose connects to?

Going to do mine plus a full oil change this weekend. I'm not using spray though, just using Seafoam Motor Treatment and pouring it in. I've also put a full can of Seafoam in the fuel tank, and 6ish quarts in the oil (as per guide bigBADbenny linked in his Tune FAQ thread --> viewtopic.php?f=56&t=20196&start=0)
