White smoke on start up

Postby Cfn_liberty » Sat Jun 08, 2013 5:54 pm

Ok after some vigorous track daying, I'm now blowing a puff of white smoke on start up.
There's none when I'm driving and hardly any when its idling once it's blown out at the start.
Has anyone had these troubles??
I'm really hoping its a turbo seal and not a ead gasket but I'm not sure if the stock turbo is water cooled?
Any help or experiences would be great thanks

Check your oil level. I've seen the same thing happen when oil was overfilled.

How much smoke do you see?

Really?
It had a service at subaru last week.
It's a huge plume of white straight away the nothing.
It just started after a couple of laps.
I finished my run, came in and turned it off after a little idle then next time I started it, it blew the smoke.

Ok, it seems it only happens if I really get into it then stop it.
If I just drive like normal and then start it later its ok....?

You sure its white smoke? White smoke is usually a lean mixture

Blue is oil related. Could be a few things:

Oil making its way into top end from sloshing in oil pan on track day
Ring land on piston broken from track day
Lean out on idle due to afm being out
Addicted to corn juice....

Dead serious. Check the oil level.

If its over the full mark i will almost guarantee it will be the issue.

When i bought my car if i cruised around it was ok, but when i would have some fun it would then blow smoke on start up.

Went to my mechanic and he sucked out 200 odd mills i think and PROBLEM SOLVED.

I just changed my oil recently and i went slightly over and i noticed that it has done the same thing but only 'just a little' oil on start up. Havent bothered cause it will chew the 50 or so ml over in the next couple of weeks.!!

The libs must be sensitive to the amount of oil they hold.!
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

NOPE..... That's shit too. Bus anyone??

Possibly lean mixture cause its not enough smoke to be the ring lands been there seen that.
