Gen 5 GT motor swap to 2.5i Liberty?

Would anyone know if the GT motor in the Gen 5 have the same engine mounts as the 2.5i Gen 5 and fit right in? I think i've seen a motor swap on Minkara, not exactly sure as to what was going on, but the guy changed out the whole front subframe to fit the motor:S. What else would you need to complete the motor swap? GT loom and ECU of course, and probs a gear box, since the 2.5i uses a CVT box lol

Just a thought, could be a possibility in the future.

Another possibility is to sell your car and buy a GT.

Unless you prefer hassle of course.

Mate it shouldnt be an issue.

If you could get the cross member ( if it is different ) motor/box/ecu +loom it should all be a bolt in situation.

But saying that. My mechanic has a foz at his shop. Client bought a genuine Sti foz (smashed i think) and transferred the motor/box over . The original car was a turbo auto.

My mechanic is having a huge issue with the speedo not talking to the box and the signal is different to what the sti dash has or wanted.

Either way it came in not running and just to get it running it has cost him $4,500. And they still have to get the loom from the sti and put it in the transplant car.

So it might just cost you more then you think!!!

I did an engine swap on my old gen II (2.2L to a JDM twin turbo) and I went the whole half-cut route, plus the whole RSK running gear and suspension, and I would definitely recommend getting a half cut. It comes with all the nuts and bolts and crossmembers and mounts and hoses and brackets along with the engine itself
