Advice please I know it been a topic before but I have specific questions

1. Is there a significant difference as compared to vf46 stock turbine?
2. How much later does the turbo come on ? Is it that much more laggy?
3. Does this upgrade put lots of stress on engine?
4. Do you need to upgrade to have a silicone inlet pipe ?

Need a tune
Not required but need a tune to do that

Spend more on a ball bearing BBK or Blouch etc to get more top and bottom end.

But get a Tactrix, learn to use it, get a tune eg torqued performance, plan supporting mods: induction, exhaust & pump upgrades.
(Or pay up for a glamour tune eg MSR etc.)
Then consider a turbo upgrade.

There are limits in the stock systems eg injectors etc so do the research and plan mods within those limits or carry out the required upgrades to support your intended outcome.

In my case, I could happily use a Vf 52 on stock injectors (assisted by an upgrade pump/3" tbe), but I'd be more interested in a bargain Kinugawa 16g or possibly 18g or even better, the right BB core or billet compressor turbo that could be supported without maxing my stock injectors... Ie: one of the smaller ones

Notes:
reinforced silicone inlet: good idea
16g or 18g acceptable on stock injectors w/ supporting mods
BB core not necessarily required in smaller ar turbos
At and beyond this level many opt for ewg and or built engines

One thing: glamour tune? I know MSR isn't as cheap as say torqued or kido, but he's FAR cheaper than others?

It's something we've been discussing based on Bruce (with bolt on support) & Brainy's (bolt on & built) experience with these upgrades.

As regards q4 there was a post about a stock Wrx inlet collapsing on the dyno with a 20g. I've not heard of this happening with a stock Lib inlet but its something to consider along with a silicone TB hose.
They are available for stock inlet diameter or bigger turbos.
They resist collapsing and smooth the inlet airflow, the latter being the primary reason a tune even on stock is required.

Generally you'd want to decide early on if you wanted a turbo with a larger diameter compressor inlet or not, and base your inlet & intercooler etc upgrades around that.

Personally I'm staying stock turbo, tmic & injectors and doing everything possible to support that, which leaves tmic waterspray, silicone piping, and heat shielding to do on the inlet side of the equation.
Maybe a 3port too...?
That's on top of zorst & pump upgrades, AFR & boost gauges and a good tune.

Hopefully the AEM failsafe will save it if eg the stock FPR & etc craps out

Benny one of the Kobe silicon kits from jacksgtb any good ??

Yes and it's a good deal with the short fat bit if you're keeping the stock airbox for silence.
Or just get the inlet and go the AVO or Cobb intake & airbox which include the SFB, and get the AVO TB hose too.
But I'd do the pump and get started tuning first.

So Benny this would not apply to installing a vf52 would it?
Are the silicone inlet pipes a DIY or a tuners job ?

So am I right in saying that a vf52 just is a great upgrade and doesn't interfere with stock running gear?

Consider the age of your car.
Yes it would apply - support is a good thing.
DIY read the AVO install guides on PDF.

Support it first for safety and reliability.
I'm supporting the stock stuff first then ill consider the bigger upgrades.
There's plenty to gain and yes ultimately the vf52 is a stock turbo with a slightly different design providing a little more top end.
During a 3rd gear pull, Bruce eventually pulled away from me as we reached the 5000rpm range.
We were somewhat surprised. Similar supporting mods, my lib is heavier being a wagon...
In normal driving its all about bottom end, thus I'm not really in the market for this upgrade unless mine fails.

If you feel your current performance is lacking, clean your MAF, get a learning view, do some logging with VVT angles etc.
Drive a good Lib for comparison.
My lib went from being average and unpredictable to rather awesome.
But it took tons of research, diagnosis, repair and modification .
Which I found to be massively fulfilling

Thanks Benny my mate is strongly recommending msr but at this point I've learned that mrt have locked my ecu to previous owner :/ very new at this and finding all this out !

Thanks will call in morning :/ with 180 thou Kms on car I've had some issues
