I also recall somewhere that this avcs issue that you are seeing could possibly be caused by the tune being too aggressive in the avcs. I'm not saying that's the case here, but it could also be something that you might be able to discuss with your tuner to investigate further as an option.

Stock has full range of 40 degrees to zero :) Stock 2L WRX/STi cams can ask for 45 degrees on full noise.

Intriguing, the rogue inlet cam gear in my last graphed log is at 50 degrees when maxing out...

What's going on?
Logs anyone?
3 members up for new inlet cam gears so far ;-)

Dude I am logging tomorrow on the way to work and back. Is there anything special I need to turn on in logging and anyway in particular I should try and drive? A mate will be doing the logging for me. Bosco I don't think it's a tune as Matt from KiDo loaded a known good base tune which should eliminate factory idle issues but it didn't change my idle at all. Sometimes I can't even notice it, other times definitely noticeable like bad batch of fuel of dirty AFM. It is definitely always like that when cold so I will need to read up on this air pump thing.

Cheers,
Shaheenis

You should be ok using the Kido logger profile.
Or any profile with L&R VVT angles...
It's most noticeable holding a given speed on the freeway.
I did 3rd @ 100kph for a short time and then 4th-5th-6th all at 100kph.

ECM is going back in tonight :-)
ChipTorque customer service is amazingly good, 3 day point to point turnaround.
Sent ECM via 500g Platinum Express Post, insured for $2600 (x2 inc return pack) on Wednesday morning, returned Friday morning!
ECM reset/unbricking $220, AusPost $102.
Peace of mind: restored.
Bruising from self-kicking: almost healed.
Mental scarring: permanent. :P

I'd imagine removing neg and pos battery terminals might be appropriate for reinstalling the ECM?

Remove negative only needed. Ignition obviously to Off position helps too :)

I am new to logging so hopefully this helps. I can email the logs if that helps. The dude that was logging fugged up the filenames so I am not sure whether this is Sport or Sport# but shouldn't matter. Without knowing anything how AVCS should work, the left and right look fairly evenly matched.

Go on pm me the logs :-)
Steady state freeway cruising is where I cop the issue most...

Matt, I am about to send you an email as I have some weird AF scaling happening (-17 etc).

So I had the car serviced today, new plugs oil etc. I haven't driven the car much but idle seems improved, learning view shows no knock (as minor knock prior to service) and hesitation seems better. I don't think I have an AVCS issue now I look at the logs and read other symptoms however the head mechanic (at reputable Subaru establishment) said to me today that he had a customer complain of similar idle and hesitation issues that was fixed by a timing belt replacement. His theory is that Subaru changed service intervals from 100K to 125K on newer 2.5ltr donks and he believes timing belts getting old and stretched can cause some timing issues. He also said they always take filters off the OCV when removing/cleaning them. Ben I will send some logs, I did a cruise run but only for 30 seconds holding gear at 100ks like you asked.

So I have put some no name mineral 15w40 in temporarily, basically to flush before refilling with nulon 10w40 full Syn.
Driven only a couple of k's so far...
Little or no difference to the off-idle shuddering, now it actually shakes under 1000 rpm!
Any suggestions for action prior to refilling?
I was intending to use another can of UEC before dropping the flush oil, for starters.
Contemplating a refill with delvac too.
