Reset ECU

Postby flySTi » Sun Dec 30, 2012 9:48 pm

I have a query about resetting my ECU. I usually do this after I find I have been driving too long like my father and the ECU has retired to the Sunshine Coast, but since I have only had this car a week I thought I should ask the safest way how.
MY07
The other shitfall I'm afraid of is does it lock up things like the Macintosh and need a code to run again.

Thanks.

the most common way between a few fellow users is to disconnect a battery terminal and pump the brake pedal a few times till it becomes too hard to use, then reconnect the battery terminal and wallah!

pumping the brakes uses up the rest of the power in the system.

the only downside is that you lose your pre programmed radio stations

The real downside is that you will lose the date settings, so your car will no longer wish you a happy birthday....

I was shattered this year when I got in my car on my birthday and it just acted like it was any other day.
That's the last time I forget to put in my birthday settings after an ECU reset!
