HKS ES Premium or Fujitsubo Legalis R for MY08 GT Spec B?

Hi Guys,

I am interested in one of these two cat back exhausts for my (stock) GT Spec B sedan. PHATGT has already given me some prices.

My main aim is a better, deeper (but still quiet-ish) sound. Please let me know your thoughts on which one I should purchase - hopefully some of you have heard both! If there is another I should consider, feel free to let me know.

An ECU tune will follow.

Cheers,
Russ

I know, and it's now been delayed until Monday... :x

Better to get the research done early!

Ive got the fuji on my car. I am happy with the sound. It's nice and quiet but opens up as the revs increase. Be warned the Fuji exhausts are hard to mount so that both mufflers are even. This is due to the ball joint system that the exhaust employs.

I have struggled and cannot get the mufflers even with the left side hanging down in a very visible fashion. Perhaps other forum members can share tricks on getting them even.

I havent heard the HKS system.

I thought exhausts can just be rotated to suit? Maybe the problem can be resolved further up the exhaust, in the Y-pipe orientation?

Just a guess...

Its definately adjustble where the mufflers meet the Y Pipe but as stated the Fujis use a ball joint system which makes it very difficult to tighten without moving the mufflers so you can align them perfectly and then when you tighten up the clamps, they have moved significantly.

If someone in Melbourne has experience with this and wants to help me get them straight I am happy to offer payment in cash or booze.

I have ES Premium. Great system, well made, easy fitment. Has a great note but no drone and looks the part. Rolled tips on the cannons complete the look as well.

i got the perrins on mine. they also use the circular clamps where the center pipe meets y section. just need to get under and tweak it to even it up.

sound deeeeep... i love it, but some might say it drones too much.

ben, want me to help with the mufflers?

Thanks EXPLICIT, I think I'm sold on the HKS system now. Agree it looks the part!

Do you have any sound clips? I can't seem to find one on the forums or youtube for this system...

When i went to go visit aj at ismotorsports, he was getting his fuji's installed,
iS did a great job, but i noted to aj that the left exhaust was rather lower then the right.

He just mentioned it to the mechanic.. he went under the car as it was still up and he pushed the left side of the exhaust up..
this was when it as all tightened aswell because he was bringing the car down and we had only noticed when the car was at our head height.

& it was straight.. i dont think it has mooved at all..

:)

Thanks Mark. You are right - thats the way to do it.

I was speaking to Phat and he gave me the low down so I might as well share for the benefit of other members.

You can adjust the mufflers once the knuckle joints are already tight. The lead olives inside the knuckle joint allow for movement so it can be adjusted by holding the tip with one hand and yanking on the pipe next to the knuckle joint with either the other hand or using a bar/pipe for leverage.

Ill give it a shot on the weekend.
