Check engine light what could it be?

Those that already know I had my car tuned about 1 month ago, since its been done Ive had no issues until yesterday. After leaving work I noticed the engine light on with the [S] & cruise flashing. The car was driving exactly the same no different sounds hesitations or additional revs. I limped the car home and looked under the bonnet. I checked all hoses incase it had popped off but all is in tact.

Oils etc are all ok. The car has quite a bit of carbon build up from the exhaust, could this build up on the sensor and throw the CEL. Other than than the pipes I can't think of anything else. Anyone able to suggest anything else?

I have attempted to reset the ecu by taking off the battery but I still have a CEL.

In relation to the dump pipe do you guys get any carbon/backfires with a phat exhaust?
I'm thinking it will be the cause can anyone add weight to this?

Did the engine light come on whilst you were driving? Or was on as soon as you started the car.
Easiest way will be a code reader, otherwise you're just clutching at straws

It’s common to run a little rich with a TBE that hasn’t been tuned, but your tuners should have corrected the A/F.

It might be O2 sensor related...... best to have the code read before you reset……. The error is common on both modded and stock cars.

I can't be sure if they came on when I was driving, but it was within 30 seconds of me driving off.

I will have to look at the sensor under the car. If its not I got no Idea, any chance I can borrow someone data scanner?

Could be the airflow sensor, same thing happened to me. $400 later and its all good (so far)

Could be the secondary air pump CEL's as well

This happened to me on Monday this week but it suddenly just turned off by itself on Wednesday :S

I don't think the brand of dump pipe would be responsible for soot or carbon out the back of the car.

A rich tune or a tune affected by a CEL sufficiently to cause your car to run Subaru's fail safe fueling map would however.

Best wait on the Subaru data scan result to see what's going on.

In the interim dump pipe wise, any or all would do the job, though I'd keep away from ones sold predominantly for the US market as they do have a tendency to either rub or get too close to the steering knuckle from memory.

For the record, I don't have a Phat dump as I prefer the AVO design slightly better due to it being stainless and the collector being cast and includes a bung for a wideband O2 sensor. And a bit cheaper new.

Just and update.

I bought a scan tool a few weeks ago and cleared the CEL after driving it for a a couple of weeks I have discovered that the CEL comes on after I either top up or full my tank.

Any ideas?

I think that it could be the petrol used? Being shell I might try bp next just to test it out.

What code is in the system? Don't just clear it because that won't fix it. Read the code and find out what it relates to then investigate that area and fix any faults you find. When that's all done then clear the code.
