Engine Oil Leak - Again!!!

We've got our favourite engine oil leak back again - just 4 months after the first one.

Telltale signs appeared today - nasty smell when stopped and smoke wafting out of the scoop.

Off to Sydney Subaru on Tuesday morning. Will be interested to see what it is this time.

Problem Identified

Afternoon all.

Problem is indeed the same as last time - split turbo oil feed pipe.

Runs from the manifold to the turbo. It is held in the middle by a bracket attached to the manifold and the pipe has split at the bracket.

Point of failure circled in the attached pic. You can also see oil sprayed over the block and head.

Dealership has seen other examples of the same problem recently.

The part is on back order from Japan - at least 2 weeks away - and there's a number of them on order.

Will be interesting to see if Subaru decide to do a recall for this one.

That ain't good news...

Anyone else here with a similar issue?

So what happens in the meantime while the part is on order? Did Subaru give you a loan car to drive?

Hey Trieu.

They've marked the case as Vehicle Off Road (VOR) to give it priority.

I don't really need the car during the week but need it weekend after next to get the boat up to Newcastle for State Championships sailing comp. Dunno what to do about that yet - need a car with a towbar which is a hassle.

Such is life.

Oil Leak Fixed

Hey Guys.

Got the car back today.

Replacement part is so new it's not even in the catalog yet so they couldn't do me an invoice. LOL

Previous pipe had a bracket attached which bolted to the manifold. Pipe was cracking where it went through the bracket.

New pipe sits in a sleeve which should allow it to move around a little.

Mario at Sydney Subaru pulled strings to get me the part ASAP. Always get good service from him.
