Hey guys

i have a problem where the green curise light is flashing at me, the "S" for sport is flashing and I have the engine light on..

now i just filled up my tank with 98 at caltex maybe 5 mins ago, then i was floggin it home and hit a corner in 3rd and i noticed it was pretty high up in the rev range (close to begining of red but not in the red)
then suddenly the car stopped accelerating and all the above came on!!

not yesterday myself and jacks-gtb changed the fuel pump to a DeatschWerks DW65C Fuel pump + the fuel filter it came with, and with the fuel tank leaking a little today which i fixed i havent had any problems.. also changed the TMIC

other then that the car is stock...

please help or do i need to go to subaru??

*edit*

i recently put a 3'' exforce exhaust from the turbo back about 1week ago aswell

and I'm yet to get a tune for the ecu

If you don't know anyone nearby that can grab the code using a scanner then yes you will need to go to Subaru to diagnose what the error code is

Might be a slight boost spike.... best to get the fault code. You could try any mechanic doesn't have to be a dealer.

If its a soft error it should reset after 5 or 6 restarts.

hopefully it is a soft CEL, I'm currently resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery then trying to start it and let it idle for 10mins or so...

hopefully that will remove the CEL, but if its a more serious one then the CEL should come back correct me if I'm wrong

and i tried to start it earlier but it wouldn't kick over, so i primed the fuel lines then tried again, kicked fine...

no deal on resetting the ECU maybe i didn't do it properly but I'm still getting those symptoms...

well i did have a full stereo getting installed tomoro but i guess that will have to wait now as this to me is more serious...

if any mechanic can do it ill go to my local one and see what happens then, if nothing then subaru booked me in for friday..

You most probably have the following CEL. P0420. The disconnect battery etc doesn't clear this CEL.

You need to find someone who can perform an ECU reset.

Or take it to Subaru and get charged appropriately.

There are many ways to do this yourself. Take your pick from the below options.

Tactrix Cable and Opensource software
OBDII port scanner
ECU Datascanner

Goodluck

Is it possible for a mechanic to fix this issue??

I'm looking into a ECU data scan now.. But I want this issue fixed ASAP!!

Yeah i'm guessing 0420 (because of the new exhaust) or 0244 (wastegate due to boost spike). I've had both, and they both drop your IAM to 0.5 so i wouldn't worry about them from a safety perspective (if it is one of these two). It'll just be due to your car not being used to or liking all your new mods at once, a tune will sort it out no dramas.

Yes just about every mechanic will have a port scanner of some sort to fix this code. A Subaru or Mitsubishi shop would definitely have one.

Well I'll see a mechanic tomoro, it shouldn't take to long to fix depending on what exactly the problem is...

So as said above a tune will fix it, so if I left this CEL until my tune (27th) the tuner should be able to rectify the problem??

The tuner is MSR (micheal south engineering)

Yes your car would be driving around in limp mode based on what it thought the problem was. Just drive sedately until the mechanic checks it out. If its nothing serious just drive carefully until the 27th and Michael should be able to sort it out for you

Hey Nick

get your xforce dump pipe checked out as well ... when i had a quick look i didn't see any o2 sensor on the top.. not sure where they put it ..maybe further down some where.

I think they might have put a grub screw in the dump pipe for some reason and the O2 sensor maybe further down, but I removed the CEL and the car is currently getting a stereo put in it and I'll be picking it up tomorrow afternoon...

But I'll get MSR to see what the CEL is and he also needs to put on the new heat shield, intake hose and I'll get him to check the O2 sensor..

I had the same symptoms come up on mine, I took it to Subaru and it was a code error from the exhaust I had installed about 2 weeks prior, they reset the computer and its been fine since
