Hey guys I'm looking for a high flow air intake kit that will go straight on to the 2007 liberty gt STi.
Obviously piping needs to have hole for placement of air sensor as well as kit coming with all brackets and fixings needed to make it sturdy and work as it should.

I got help from Bruce, I looked around on the subimods site and found that same system for a much better price. Just a bit worried that there may be something suspect because of the radical price difference.

You can buy that SPT in take off eBay and have it delivered to your door, I have the same model on my Lib, make sure you get the heat shield that goes with it

Each to their own, it just depends what you want. For me I wanted a JDM pod filter so went with an Apexi intake (short ram). Looked nice and neat in the engine bay. Since I have carbon fibre engine covers, I had a custom made carbon fibre airbox to fit it in, but you wouldn't need to worry about that. As long as you have an airbox covering it you'll be fine, as having it exposed is a defect.

I'd tell you to email PHAT GT (forumparts@gmail.com) for a suggestion and price but he has been super busy lately so might have to hold off that for a little bit haha.

Oh and before I forget, is noise an issue for you? Will you be upgrading your turbo later down the track?

Around how much did it cost you to get all that intake system?
These two (the Cobb system with housing and SPT system) are in my price range, do you know which brand is better, or better suggested to put in the lib?
Noise is no issue for me and I am looking to upgrade the turbo eventually but probably not for a year or two.

The intake was around $250 installed, the carbon fibre box was an extra few hundred because it was a custom job and it's carbon fibre...but I recon you can get a plastic box for it for way less than that.

Personally I prefer JDM brands, the apexi intake is proven, but I have not had any experience with anyone using the Cobb intake. Only apexi, blitz and Perrin which is a us brand like the Cobb intake.

If I were you I'd get the Cobb intake if it's much of a muchness for you cos you get the box with it. If price isn't an issue get an apexi or blitz one

I had the Cobb and thought it was a good intake. Gambit also only ever had good things to say about his too.

Only reason I took mine off is because I went back to the factory air box to reduce the sound.
I would have liked to keep it but it was too loud for me.

Also, I just looked at that spt one and it seems to have the sensor in a bend in the pipe.

That might not be ideal because you could be getting air turbulence from the bend where the sensor is and it could throw your readings off a bit.

What are your intention for the car, daily, tracking etc.??? How big will your turbo upgrade be???

Reason why I ask, the OEM air box with a high flow panel filter and some ducting from the fog light surround will be more than enough.

Also one free mod you can try is the removal of the resonator on the underside of your car box, that will give a slight induction sound and a bit of noise from the BOV…… it gets a little louder if you fit a high flow panel filter.

I would go with a panel filter too personally, unless you want a bit more intake sound.

Ended up going through a family friend's mechanic and he made me up a custom short ram pod system for 1/3 of the price of the imported ones. I am absolutely rapt with it and will post videos and pics on my profile soon.
