Anything to be warey of with a 2006 MY07? ie near first build.

In advance, thank you kindly.

Bosco, Jim here, (RSLC).

AFAIK i think the MY08's may have got an electric passenger seat but further than that i dont think theres that much difference, perhaps some minor revisions. MY07 only has electric drivers seat.

Mine is a MY07 and i cant really fault it but things to look out for is the turbo oil feed line, was a recall i believe, as the previous owner had it flog out halfway to Perth and had it fixed. If theres one thing i can suggest, remove the HID chrome washer covers and re-affix them with a sturdy adhesive so they dont fly off at night. They only come on when your lights are on and you wash the windshield but it seems they come off very easy, quite common by the looks of it and Subaru will slug you about $100 for a replacement.

I guess just the usual service history check and fastidiously maintained oil changes, apparently these 2.5's spin bearings. Infact i think there was a period around 07'ish where Subaru halted importing the turbo range due to the bearing failures, until it was rectified. Not sure if MY07's were before or after that.

Good luck Jake!

I think the MY08 gets rear A/C vents as well which the MY07 doesnt have.

I write a thread on this sane subject a few months back, it's in the 'Subaru' section on main page :)

3 good tips, thanks Jim. Will keep an eye out and do such sticking of said washer covers (if they are still in place).
The one i have my eye on has been STi Dorklands records, so i'll peep them to be sure.

Thoughts on a GTb with roughly 150,000kms? I'm a tad sceptical, but i know Subaru's and my current Subi has been fairly well behaved over the years.

I wouldnt be too worried about the km's mate, mine had 115,000 when i bought it. Previous owner was a RAAF'ie and he had taken it to Perth and back and god knows where elses. It was like brand new when i picked it up, could have had 50km's on the dial and i wouldnt have been able to tell. I guess it all comes down to a good service history and the previous owner. I would go for something just over 100k as you know at least the timing belt and major service has been done (if going by the book).

Ive put nearly 10,000 on it since and everything still feels pretty tight. Without the mods ive chucked on, feels brand new still.

I would have been happy with a little over a 100, but 145 has me a little sceptical. Service records are good, but there is still another 10k until the next service.

I'll check it out, and see how it feels. I hate rattles, they are an instant dismissal.

Mine has 140 on it, it has a dash rattle, but you don't hear it anymore after I replaced all of the bushes on the transmission with urethane, now you hear transmission noise instead....

I'm a bit confused about some of the above post, mines MY07 and it has both electric passenger seat and rear
centre console vents.

I think that makes it a 2007 my08
