Nah no tune for awhile.

Should be ok. Im sure it can handle it without a tune for a short while.

famous last words KABOOM. knock knock knock...... :D

If its a factory tune there's always some headroom, and you'll find the ecu will cut in if you exceed its boost safety parameter.

But do post up your results and what you decided upon.

Are there any recommendations on what should be done first? The boost controller or the ECU tune?

I was planning to do both the HKS EVC and the ECU re-tune from MRT, but wasn't sure which should go on first?

So I called MRT up to book an appointment, and asked whether or not I could install a boost controller with their ECU upgrade at all. Basically the guy tried to scare me by saying I would experience issues with knocking and detonation, and that it would interfer with the ECU's control of the boost and that I may even experience a loss in power rather than an increase. He said a boost controller would not work well with the reflashed ECU.

Hmm, okay. The boost controller is coming in next week, and I have booked an appointment with MRT for the 22nd. Should I cancel the boost controller altogether? Or have that fitted and see if MRT can work with it?

There are other options out there and I would seek some other advice before parting with your hard earned cash.

the factory boost controller is a fine instrument and you dont really need an aftermarket one unless you are running big boost or huge power..

The factory item is fine
