Oil Leak

Posts specific to the 2.5 litre turbo engine

It was a broken oil feed pipe to the turbo.

I got to Subaru, and it behaved well. It sat in the carpark, smoke rolling up from the scoop.

Fortunately Subaru had it in stock, but it won't be fitted until tomorrow. No loan cars available so I am left to find my own way home and back to work tomorrow...

Lucky you, I had to wait a little more than a month for my part!!!

Although that was partly the result of the wrong part being ordered.
Cheers,

Rosso.

Hey guys,

My pipe cracked about 2 months ago and it just went again the other day, just check that they don't put the same part type number on again like they did to me. Made sure it was the new part number this time.

Hey guys.

Ours got the problem for the second time on the Australia Day weekend.

The new part was available at that time - the fix had just come in from Japan and part number was changed. Go the car back 5 Feb and no problems since.

Any fixes after that should've used the new part.

Link here to pictures of the fix.

hey guys

is the oil leak like a very thin viscosity oil?

because i've got the same on my car, and its only done 800Kms...

its leaking very slowly but on the flatened box i tuck underneath the engine bay...there a very light drip/s. doesnt seem to be like dark thick engine oil.

any ideas?

cheers

Hey Bud.

If you've got this problem it's your engine oil leaking. the leak is on the upper side of the engine - drivers side. I doubt the oil would run off the motor - it leaks slower than that coz it's only a hairline crack.

Have a look at the pics I posted further up in this thread.
