Hi People,

Just a quick question, will an after-market Top Mount Intercooler like a Liberty GT 07-09 / Legacy Hyperflow Covert TMIC Kit or anything like that fit with the engine cover?
Or do you have to take the Engine Cover off?

Also while on topic, what's the best TMIC money can buy? I know the Hyperflow is pretty good value and AVO I've heard are pretty good, are there any others?

PHAT GT thinks Perrin is one of the best for bolt on. It fits under the engine cover, but requires a small amount of modification by cutting the top and bottom section of the hole for the TMIC. Not by much, just maybe 2cm each side. I think the same goes for the AVO.

Great Thanks for that! Looks like the Perrin PSP-ENG-320 is just what I need then! I hope it doesn't make too much noise, I'm trying to stay as stealth as possible. Now I Just have to find someone who sells it, doesn't look like there are any easy to find online stores from a quick google search.

to be honest all aftermaket TMIC are different in size,

AVO the smallest
Hyperflow medium
Perrin the largest

Process west also makes are TMIC, but it has yet to be fitted to are liberty to confirm the fit, you will need to change the scoop intake for this unit to fit.

At the time i was shopping around the Perrin was the cheapest even when our dollar was mid 0.80's, hyperflow was $1300+, AVO around the $900 mark.

I found no local Perrin resellers were willing to respond to my calls or emails, even Perrin US were hard to deal with, again Phat GT may point in the right direction to purchase one.

All aftermarket tmic require slight trimming of the engine cover.

btw you should look at least getting a high flow panel filter to make use of the larger tmic, it might result in some noise, but nothing over the top.

From the look and the dimensions of the Process West TMIC i'd say that it would be up there with the best, but as mentioned no one has actually installed one in our libs. I'd like to see one installed, perhaps you can be the guinea pig

Thanks Arith for all the info, I'm trying to make a choice while our dollar is buying 102c against the greenback so the info is appreciated.

The Stock TMIC seems like a Hot Air Intake if anything, I've felt it a few times after driving and it's been pretty hot, I could imagine that heat is getting pulled right into the engine.

I was looking into getting a CCI Kit But I've heard they can get a little noisy, I have bought K&N box filters for all my previous cars but they only make a marginal difference (Like 3kW) and the Cold Air intake option from K&N for the GT.B is the Typhoon offering aprox 11kW, ARC makes a really cool Box Replacement Filter for the EK Civic (My old Car) that was as good as a Pod Filter but kept things relatively quiet, I wonder if anyone makes anything for the Liberty.

I just checked out their Website, they don't have anything published on there about doing Liberty TMICs, just the Forrester STi\WRX and XR6 Turbo, they must still be working on it or something, I'm not sure I want to be a guinea pig lol But I'll definitely look into it, thanks for commenting.

The WRX 08-11 STI one they have is pretty much a direct bolt on to the liberty...but you have to run it without the engine cover as it's too big.

And I hope I'm the first Liberty that will have this installed
