Hey guys I'm new to the ej25/Subaru world I've just purchased a 2007 liberty gtb tb sti and the first mod I want to do is put in an intake system... should i get a CAI system or a short ram?? and which brands should i get i.e HKS, APEXI, Blitz so on.... where can I can purchase them and which one is the best?

Having had no experience with N/A Subaru's I can't really help you out... BUT, Phat GT is the man to talk to obtain the parts

He has also done some custom type intakes for the N/A for one of our members which may be of interest to you.

He says he has a GT TB STi? not NA

but you must also consider your engine setup / future setup, budget and compare costs with different brands......

I recommended hyperflow because the company is australian based in syd, and there intake setup is quite good and comes with the heat shield cover.

Anecdotal evidence in America has shown no real performance gain to be had with an aftermarket air intake, the stock box is not restrictive enough to cause a problem with power. In addition the stock airbox is also meant to be easier to tune for.

Yes, gains are minimal at best, but response is a bit quicker. Not to mention the intake pipe will produce less turbulence compared to the ridged factory intake pipe.

But yeah, if you're planning on only a small number of mods, this probably won't make much difference. But if you're doing moderate to heavy mods, every little bit counts and this will add to the overall power gain.

If your are after real improvement in performance you need to consider more then just the CAI you should consider upgrading the whole intake, that includes the tmic, turbo inlet pipe, high flow panel filter and some extra ducting for the oem air box.

I have both the HKS panel, in the oem air box, with resonator removed and Phat custom fog light mod which drafts air into the air box. From the air box to tmic I have the zerosports S bend and avo turbo inlet pipe. The tmic is are perrin almost 3 times the thickness of the oem tmic and free flowing end tanks and fins.

The above mods with are few other bits and are tune should result in 170-180 kw atw.

Shame I didn't have enough time for PHAT to do that fog light mod on my car
I'm wondering if I can just do it myself? Doesn't sound too hard. Stock airbox ftw!

Also what are your thoughts on the avo turbo inlet pipe? Was it worth it for just the mods you have?

im after to my the avo turbo inlet pipe and apexi power intake?? should i get that from phat or is there a website i can get it from??
