80k and new Rotors?

Postby TorpedoCreative » Wed Feb 02, 2011 10:31 pm

I bought an 07 tbSTi a few weeks ago and have just had the car serviced to make sure everything was ok
It was also booked in to get the new (Dixcel M) pads replaced on all corners as I knew they were almost out. However, I had to replace the front rotors too. Ive never had to replaced rotors on any of my cars in the past and was surprised that it was required on a car with 80k on it? Im not disputing the service centre because I saw how much was left on the rotors, but was intersted to hear if anyone else has had to replace them so early?

btw, I got DBA 4000 slotted rotors (look sweet) the front and I also need to get new rotors on the rears.. can anyone suggest the best rotors for the rears and where to get them at a good price?

cheers
J

The oem rotors and pads are not the best combination IMO…… far too soft for are performance based car.

My first set of pads lasted about 20k and rotors where long gone by the 35-40k ……… :angry2: :angry2:

I have since fitted dixcel fs heat treated slotted rotors all round with type z pads on the front and type m pads on the back…… they have lasted are number of tracks days and daily driving. 35k+ rotor are still 29mm thick and pads are 50% worn on the front and 80% on the rear.

Of course they were supplied and fitted by Phat gt…….. Need I say more :D :D :D
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

Yep, Phat Gt is the man for Dixcel products at great prices, he did my complete car front and back and the braking ability over stock bits is amazing.

When I give an opinion you have to ask yourself...what the hell does he know about anything!

just this past monday I went to my mechanic to also change out the pads
Got 93k on the clock and the front pads and rotors were required to be changed out
had only 1mm left on the front rotors
Also put dba rotors on just standard 180mm rotors
