so... has anyone else worn out their front CV-Joints?
what are my options?
My (subaru)service guys are saying not to go genuine because they only come as a complete package with the drive shafts and are like a gorilla each and that they have a guy that will replace/recondition mine for about $280 ea.
the car has done about 82k and has been running increased power for about half of that....
i'm thinking stronger/upgraded would be better?
and before anyone says "search is your friend" i tried that but i think i'm crap at it and there is some technique issues.

its a common issue with the boots, running more power is not the issue either......

Just had mine replaced under warranty earlier this year. But would you really trust a reconditioned one?

MY07? And warranty? Did you take out an extension or buy an 07 model in 08?

Depends on whats 'worn out' inside. If the hardening on the balls or the inner and outer is damaged, the joint is toast, and must be replaced. If its just a torn boot that will let dirt in , and you catch it before damage occurs, then they just need a clean up, wash out the dirt, repack with grease,and new boots. Kits for this are relatively cheap, most of the cost is the time to R&R the shaft.

Yeah, got mine in late 2007, and I was 3 weeks away from the warranty expiring when it happened so I got lucky. But the dealership I bought the car from did give me 2 years extended for free so I would have been covered anyway.
