More info...

Stopped at servo. Fuel light was on low fuel for a fair bit of the drive.

Put in 20L noise seems to have home can't replicate it even letting car run for 10 mins stationary...

Just to recap post :

-Noise like a knocking appears when AC is on or not.
- seems to occur on HOT days if it's at idle slight rev and it goes
- not consistent at all
- when knocking can be heard from inside cabin I get out and engine is quiet and no odd noises

Was told by a Subaru engine builder that he thinks it sounds like a belt tensioner

Any opinions ? Help full suggestions to check ?

Accessory belt tensioner is a DIY job, mine was squealing on startup.
Timing belt tensioner... That's pretty important... How far off timing belt service are you?
I'd suggest at least inspecting the belt via taking off the cover/s...

If you are that worried newbie. Go take it to a mechanic and get them to look at it.

It is pointless posting up here multiple times as we ARE NOT there to hear and see the issue.

If its not getting worse or not affecting any performance / drivability then don't worry.

wind the boost up to 24 psi, and drive the nuts off it till it goes bang.

until then forget about it, and all the other funny issues you keep finding

Most of them make weird noises anyway. I wouldn't worry about and deal with it when it goes bang.

What do you mean gb ? Nothing can be heard under hood
