Yeah Just wanted to confirm what others have said, I installed a short shifter in my old rex, and I tell you I just never got sick of changing gears in that thing. If my funds were a little healthier I would definitely be going for one. The one I put in the rex was just a shorter stick with a differently positioned linkage and new bushes from NRG - don't how that would compared with the Sti one on offer.

This forum is bad bad bad. Just as well my wife doesn't browse here...

Okie dokie, so the kit will be $440, plus bushes... roughly $80-$100. PLus installation. All up $700? Is that a good estimate?

I was going to get this for my 3RB, but just as well I think it's better off in a turbo :)

first of all.. what is being offered here is the OEM unit as compared to the Kart boy i installed.

the OEM unit looks a whole of kit for the price and you need to confirm it is everything as decribed because
as i mentioned before these OEM kits were in the order of $1,500.. and it looks a lot of unit for the price.

The kart boy was just a tig welded stick with a shorter throw and shorter stick in conjunction with a new
set of bushes..

champ if you can follow a set of instructions you can do it yourself.. i can get some links for you to follow

im no mechanic in fact i think im quite useless with a spanner but if you can follow a set of instructions it can be done on your own.

in saying that the 6MT has a reverse lock out pin that needs to be taken out and put back in and can be quite tedious.

WTF? Where did you get that price from?
ST3501021020 is to suit a current 3.0 R B Spec and GT Spec B, and the Subaru Australia site lists it as RRP $633.41.

I used to have a Kartboy short shiter in my car with all the bushes (including linkage bushes), and took it out an installed an STi short shift kit, kept all the bushes in obviously.
The STi kit feels better and is smoother.
My wife still has a Kartboy short shifter and all the bushes in her Impreza, and going from mine to hers (hers with less km's and not as much abuse), mine feels better.

If you've got the money, get the STi kit - plus you get 12 months warranty on the part from Subaru...

Edit - Happy now whingey?

thats why i asked for them to ensure its the whole box and dice as posted in the picture..and not just a stick and bushes

i know that prices have come down and the Aus dollar is stronger but i can assure you back in 04
the OEM short shift kit was in the vicinity of > $1,000

WTF!???!?! Sheppo9, did you just edit my post? Mate, I did not (anywhere) put down that the kit cost $1500.

Someone has edited my post! No where have I put the OEM kits were $1500.

Check all my post, none are edited.

Sheppo9, the original quote, "OEM kits were in the order of $1,500" was posted by Spec B Wgn. Trieu's post was just repeating Spec B Wgn's sentence in a quote.

Jesus , I should be clearer ;)

The deal is for the forum members here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5374. It's not a group buy but discounted pricing for forum members. The items are direct from Subaru & Sti or so is "quoted".

I hope it is ALL that was imaged. If there is so much difference perhaps that's why the kit USED to be so expensive. My understanding is that you can get the kit direct from Subaru at :http://www.subaru.com.au/models/liberty/2.5gt_spec.b/sedan/performance-parts/

Described as:

Liberty Sedan 2.5GT spec.B Manual
Short Shift Gear Lever Assy - 6 Speed
Price: $633.41
Part Number: ST3501021020

The 'Short Shift' Gear Lever Assembly features a re-designed linkage to allow for a reduced length gear lever and a shorter, faster throw between gears to strengthen the feel of a ‘quick-shift’ operation.

Bushes are stiffened to ensure that a crisp shift is possible, while all surrounding components remain unaffected.

SAME image as in my previous post.

Sorry for any confusion I caused.

Seems like I should get it IF its all as seems.

Crikey, spend 24 hours off line and this happens. Haha! Yes, I've arranged a price on the STi 6spd Short Shift KIT. I too was concerned that it didn't have the bushes even though the website said it does so I have sent a note off to my contact and requested confirmation on it.

In addition, the pricing is correct that I posted. 30% off.

I've also asked them to give some ideas of postage for our I/S guys.

If it's confirmed that the bushes are included... then how many people want it?? PM me ONCE confirmed. :D

Stay tuned.

No Need to check as i have ordered many of theses short throw STI kits and what you see in the pic posted is what you get (cheap) buy buy buy

and yes all rubber bushs are included

also i would'nt go replacing the bushs with after market ones as they tend to add more vibration through the stick as the factory rubber is there to remove all that, abit like using solid engine mounts over rubber ones

:D
